No Power? How Do I Cook Food?!

Power outages seem to be something we deal with a lot in the Muncie area, and it is usually as a result of some kind of weather. Because the weather - along with its occasionally accompanying power outages - is unpredictable, it is important to familiarize ourselves with another subject that will be covered at the Muncie Community Preparedness Fair:

Alternative heat and/or cooking sources

The first thing I think of when it comes to surviving an emergency is how I will be able to eat. Then again, that's pretty much my first thought in any potential scenario, so it is really important to know what I can and can't use during a power outage or another kind of crisis.

What can you cook with? How do you store alternative sources for cooking when they are not being used? Is there a proper way to use these items? How can you prepare yourself for a power outage?

Come to the Muncie Community Preparedness Fair on Saturday, September 15, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to find out! We will be in Heartland Hall at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

But if you can't make it or wait until then, the American Red Cross has a lot of great information about how to prepare yourself for a power outage.
